To all my sisters in despair
To those who bought amazing outfits for weddings and parties that have now been cancelled this summer, or who have a closet full of fancy clothes but don’t know when they will next get a chance to wear them, Panic not. There are still ways to get use out of all those gorgeous garments.
It is a sad time we are living now and if we are considered too old to draw rainbows for our windows then we need to find another way to do our part and bring a bit of glitter to the neighbourhood. If food shopping is going to be our only reason to leave the house, then why not make it count? Why not wearing your cocktail dress on your dog walk? I don’t know about you but it’s the beginning of week 3 and just the sight of my leggings makes me want to burn them…
So don’t wait. You don’t need a “special occasion” to justify wearing your party clothes. For a bit of practicality and comfort, you will have to know a couple of tricks though. Tricks which will always work by the way, not only when you are self isolating…
So the key is obviously finding a good balance. Instead of going all in with your outfit, just focus on one key item and go easy on the rest. Wear your ruffled skirt with a leather belt and slouchy T. To wear your fancy black dress, drop high heels and clutch bag. Match it with something lighter and more “passe-partout”.
If it’s still doesn’t make much sense to you, here are the basic wardrobe items that you will need to properly dress anything down. A pair of white trainers and a biker Jacket to match your maxi dress, a basic white t-shirt and a denim jacket with your sequins skirt add some discrete jewellery (even dressed down you are allowed to shine!), and Finally just a bit of sass et voila!
Dress like there is no Tomorrow!!!
